Headed in the right direction

Well my weight is 194.8 its down, but not really. I need to lose so much more I get frustrated. I ate a high sodium meal and my weight went up even though I hadn't eaten extra calories. So being frustrated I didn't try as hard the next couple days. I could of had a loss but didn't. I really wanted to be in the 170's by now.

down to a new low

My weight for this week was 194.8

So I am down a little bit. I didn't have time to do my weigh in. I got my IUD out and found out that my Uterus and bladder are prolapsed. They want me to go in for surgery and have a hystorectomy and have my bladder grafted up. I told them I would but I won't do it until winter time. I just don't have the time right now to be laid up in bed. I am worried because they said that I would never be able to lift more than 30 pounds.

My weight has been doing good, considering I am still struggling with my chocolate/sugar problems. I am terrible to skip dinner just so I can have my candy fix. I just don't know what to do. I have been eating a lot more fruits and I just can't find a good substitue. I just read a good book about eating more whole foods and organic. I wish I could remember the title. It sure made a lot of sense.

My MIL is thinking of doing the HCG diet. I don't know its pretty crazy. I don't have time today to blog about it but I will be shortly.

Weigh in Results!

Well this week went better. I spent a lot of time outside this week. We have two gardens, one is 40x50 and the other is 20x44. We have been raking, fertilizing and putting black plastic down. We have also been taking out our railroad tie border so we can put up our new chain link fence. With all that work and getting a head cold on top of that I did manage to eat less. I also decided to call my doctor. I am getting my Mirena removed, and no I am not getting pregnant. Chad has had the big "V". I wanted the Mirena to stop my horrible pms and periods but its just not working this time around. I am really looking at trying not to mess with nature and my natural hormones. It will be interesting to see if it has any impact on my weight loss. Also this week I tried some Budget Gourmet frozen meals. They are less than One dollar at wal-mart. So they are really economical. I anitcipate another good week this week, I have a lot of busy days ahead and that seems to keep me from eating all the time too. I also continue to have my Crystal Light Strawberry Energy every morning. It really gives me a great pick-me up, and I try to sip on it all morning. I think now I have lost 8 pounds total since starting, its not too bad but I am off track, I had hoped to lose 2 a week and last week I stayed the same.

Same as last.

My weight didn't change this week. I am ok with that. I spent a lot of time outside doing yardwork and burning calories...and consuming calories. I am doing well this week and I hope to have a 2-3 pound loss this week. Well off to do more yard work. Last Week

Well last week was hard. Chocolate is proving to be a great difficulty for me. I am not sure what to do about it. I do appreciate every ones suggestions and I will post some of them later as they are great ideas. I wanted to lose more this week but I know why I didn't. I really don't eat much in one sitting but the chocolate in-between meals is killing my calorie intake. I did go for 2 walks last week pushing the baby in the stroller. We also did a ton of yard work and worked with our small livestock. I didn't count that as exercise minutes but I did work hard. I am not sure if I want to continue writing out my food. For some reason lately when I journal my food I eat it makes me uneasy. Almost sets off a mental alarm that I am going with-out. It seems right now if I just mentally keep a calorie count in my head I seem to do better. The diet mindset I found can really harm me as a dieter. It can really set off a binge attack. I don't know why this is, if its just lack of control on my part or its something genetically hard wired into my system. What ever the case it will be interesting to see how I do this week without journaling. Most mornings I am having cereal for breakfast. For lunch I have a grilled cheese and a piece of fruit. Dinner has been what ever meat I serve the family and skipping the starch, extra veggies and a treat after.

I am discouraged about my pooch. After having 4 very LARGE babies (9.4, 8.4, 8.6 and 9.8) this pooch doesn't show ANY signs of shrinking. If my health is good and my heart is doing alright I think after my weight loss I am going to look into a mini-tummy tuck. I know its vain but its something that really bothers me.

Well I am off to take care of the kids and house.

Week #2 Weigh in

Well the first week started off well, but I bombed at the end. All said and done I still have a loss but I could of got under a certain milestone had I not eaten way too many Peanut Butter Bars. I really had a small amount of exercise minutes 90 minutes for the whole week is pretty pathetic. In my BLC most people had about 300. I really need to step it up if I expect to have a chance at the exercise prize. My goal this week is to continue to write everything down and to really exercise. I figure planning my exercise is going to be the key. So I am planning a walk later today. Its a little cool to take my toddler out right now so we are going to wait until after lunch.
Here is the scale...too bad I don't have the biggest loser music to add in :)

4 Body Types

In the newspaper today there was an ad for "Get Rid of Belly Fat once and For All!". Tired of the claims that are constantly being belted at us I almost skipped it. But I took a look at the drawings of the four body types to see what one resembled myself. Then I looked up the company on the Internet. I was shocked to find that the few health problems I have were detailed under my body type. Even more interesting my obese MIL body type (Liver) matched her problems to a "T" I would love to know if anyone has heard of this diet or attended the work shops. Here is the link:

Ok I confess I got a Bodybugg last year. Luckily been the cheap gal I am it didn't cost me a thing. I just sold them on Ebay and direct shipped them from 24 hour fitness. It was crazy people would spend that money, but it did allow me for a short time to make enough money to buy my own Bodybugg and Digital display. It came with its own 3 month free online service. You HAVE to use the online service for the Bodybugg to work. During the time I used the Bodybugg I did not lose any weight. I was also nursing a baby at the time so that was a factor. I did learn some things about the Bodybugg and I thought that I would share them with you. First let me tell you the Bodybugg straps to your arm and measures your bodyheat, motion up, down, forward and back. It also measures sweat *eww*. You have the option to have a digital display.

It gives you real time readings of your:

-Steps taken
-Moderate Activity Minutes
-Calories Burned-Trip Rate (like a car trip rate...imagine all the fun things you can see)

So after using this I found that some things burned a lot of calories and others not so much.
Days that are leisure and spent hanging out reading, watching tv, holding a tiny baby, computer time or any down time. Those days burned about 2000-2100 calories. Not too bad really but about the average for most adults.

Days that were spent busy...only sitting for meals and night time tv. Those days the calories burned were close to 2800-3000. During those days I was busy working in the garden, house or playing with the kids.

That's a huge difference between days and could of made a big difference in weight loss (had I not been so hungry from breastfeeding). The Bodybugg would measure moderate activity minutes. So a really brisk walk would up those minutes. So would moderate activities outside; raking leaves, pulling weeds, mowing lawn. So even though sometimes you can't get in actual exercise minutes if you can do some moderate activities they can really help.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Day one Before Pictures

Alrighty here are my first thing in the morning pictures. I am wearing my sweats for these. I thought about doing a "sports bra" biggest loser pictures but er....too early for that. I even did a "rear view" that one was scary. I need to see a change, I know it won't be soon. One thing that is hard is knowing the things that won't change. The saggy boobs, baby pooch and the stretch marks...ahh the awards of Motherhood :)

Weigh in..Day 1 of Biggest Loser Contest

With the first weigh-in done I feel a little scared. I mean how many times have a tried to do this already? Good news is I have done this before so I know I can do it. I keep mentally going through the things that I know may trigger me. My weakness is chocolate and I know I have a problem with it. Honestly I know the reason that I am fat is because my Chocolate consumption. For the averge person in the US they consume an averge of 12 pounds of Chocolate per year. I know I ate WAYYYY more than that. I can't count the 1 pound bags of peanut butter M&M's I have tossed down. Then if you take into account all of the Lindt Truffles I have consumed then it starts getting really scary. So I know I have a problem with Chocolate. I can't just not eat chocolate, I am not ready for that. So its moderation time, like they always say. I bought some Hershey's 100 calorie chocolate sticks. They look good, but we'll see. I also got some Lindt Dark Chocolate truffles. I am a milk chocolate girl, but maybe just having one dark chocolate truffle will help fill the void.

So what did the scale say? If you didn't watch my weigh in, it said 204.5. Ok that sucks, it really does. In my defense I had clothes on. Maybe naked I would of weighed less. The first couple of weeks of dieting suck. I mean its like detoxing. You body wants those foods you have been feeding it. I am not sure how today will go. We will see.....

It is like facing the music. You can pretend and deny how big you have gotten all you want. But once you take your measurements you really have to take a hard look at the facts. You got fat. I have excuses, don't we all? Here are the measurements:

Right Calf: 15 1/4 inches
Right Thigh: 30 inches
Hips: 49 inches
Waist: 38 inches

Here are my results, this is a current virtual me on the left and a projected image of me after my weight loss.

Starting Monday....I will be on my diet.

Ok, honestly how many times have I done this. Creating some sort of "start date" for a diet. Well this time it is different. I have been dieting already and have lost 20 pounds but I kind of hit a rut. So I am joining a group who is doing a biggest loser contest. I wanted to track my results here and hopefully gain more insight into what works best for my body. I hope to share my tips, recipes and tricks with everyone.

The official start date is Monday the 9th of March 2009. I will post an official weigh in on here. Something I will be doing different, is that I will ONLY be weighing in once a week. For me that is hard. I am a little bit obsessive with weighing myself. Sometimes twice a day, and sometimes more. That is unhealthy, and going to once a week weigh in's is going to be so hard at first.

Please follow along, share your tips and hope that I can win this pot of money. Because if I do win they money sure would be great :)
